Hello Lennie,
Actually we have anycast set up between our Paris and US DNS servers. You are right, it makes a significant difference.

Alby, I'm not 100% sure what you are asking for, but we do have a control panel for the Simple Hosting instance. Perhaps you could be a bit more detailed in your request for additional features, and put them here?

Why didn't you mention all inclusives:
- Control panel type/ brand
- Clearly detail description of level of privileges compared to the hosting standard of: Dedicated Admin, VPS Admin (with or without reboot privileges), Shared Admin (with or without Reseller privileges) etc.

Gandi simples hosting solution seems perfect for my low, low requirements, I just wish it had SSH access and it would be exactly what I needed Not being able to do an rsync or scp using helpful shell scripts, such as Drush for Drupal, or pulling changes from an CVS saddens me.

I have just renewed a batch of domain names for an amount close to € 300, and wish to share a point of view.
I used to recommended GANDI to friends and business contacts. I stopped doing so - after some (predictable) comments from my counterparts - since the "selling proposition" / "tag line" / "positioning" has became as narrow, ridiculous and anti-business as "no bullshit".
Of course it's a joke, but you don't put trust and money for the next 10-20+ years into a joke, especially if you are a regular person (not a "geek" or a teenager).
By they way, GANDI should try translating the tagline into French: would they decide to use it? Of course they would see where and how far it goes beyond the ridiculous!
One or two years after, did they observe any benefit generated by the new positioning?
Any plan to discontinue / change it? I'd like recommend GANDI again.

Personally it is the "No Bullshit" tag that gave me pause to stop and take a serious look at Gandi as a provider. I like that Gandi is edgy and not the norm. I have had enough of the "norm" for hosting services. If Gandi is the company they portray themselves to be, then the no bullshit tag will deter no one.

Quality service will always be the final deciding factor. If someone chooses to move to another provider simply because of the no bullshit tag, I would expect they will be back soon enough once they taste the "bullshit" from other providers.

For the record I am an American. Admittedly, not a typical American, but American none the less.

I replied frequently because I got a Nonsense answer from your support team that you do not own the domain even after the WHOIS stated you do and so did the domain control panel.

As I clearly stated, the problem is "NO RESPONSE".

The support page should clearly state "EXPECTED RESPONSE TIME".

Your support page has green bars and red bars but the response time is same - "NO RESPONSE".

You do answer here every minute because this is a public page, I hope you spend that time processing support request so we do not have to post messages here.

Further, you have to read my responses here to obtain support ticket number which were already open in your support system for more than 24 hours. Strange !

you wrote 6 times in the last 24 hours, the support is answering in this delay, we are going to solve the issue if you let us time to :

* analyse it
* find the source
* solve it with the technical team

If you want to transfer your domain name elsewhere, it is your choice, you can choose the provider you want.

We are not answering within minutes but I do not see any support doing this

The tickets are both answered by the way and the problem solved.

I can take this up with French Consumer Authority under "Deceptive sales" category. i.e. offering terms that are either false or do not exist.

The support is at its worst. Sent a first request asking how can I get a link for SSL creation as the offer states it is free for first year, but in domain management I am being asked to pay for it.

The response I get is that the domain is not registered with Gandi. It appears the support person did not bother to check the account before sending a response. There are other questions for the same problem on the wiki with many people have similar issues. http://wiki.gandi.net/questions/en/...

Sent in two more support request but no answer.

Correct, you are in top 5 domain sellers and I assume top 2 in worst customer service.

I hope you've taken the obvious step of making sure Gandi's mail servers don't use the SORBS blacklist in any way.

More seriously, while I have a great deal of respect for anyone who takes the time to fight spam, blacklist operators often seem to go a bit insane. Block spammers, but don't cause collateral damage. And don't expect everyone else to accept assertions without evidence.

After reading all about SORBS, it should be added that a website which only allows communication via a registration first is wrong, and then when you do sign up the system throws you of with an error, I find this disgraceful, I worked with my ISP found the problem, and deleted the script that was the problem, and firewalled the person IP who was doing it, no more problem all is happy, except SORBS I have been judged and convicted without a trial, I think SORBS should be taken of air...

Nice work to GANDI with the can do attitude towards IPv6.

Not sure where feature requests are meant to go, but I would love to see an option that allows us to set the login timeout on gandi.net. I have the website open nearly all day managing various things, you won't believe how many times I have to login each day!!

It is "early 2011" already. When will DNSSEC be available for domains registered through Gandi? I will switch registrar unless this becomes available soon. I already have it enabled on domains registered elsewhere.
