I guess that's true... but isn't there an account creation link right on the writers section of your blog account page?

...right below the invite field?

it's a link entitled "Create a new Gandi account" which links to a page where anyone can set up his own gandi.net account to get a blog.gandi.net handle and password.

I would like to have my blog at my domain, instead of a subdomain so I get credit for the traffic. How is that possible?

Also can I add code to my blog page? If so, I should be able to add Google AdSense to these pages. Please confirm.

Yes. Moreover, it does not work.
Would it not make more sense that I would invite a mandated writer by adding his email address to the "Invite a new writer" box. After this this person would receive an email inviting him to click on a link etc.
Creating an account for a mandated writer seems rather convuluted and unhelpful, indeed it is counter-logical.

It is always interesting to use two different stat scripts.

A note to all, however! Some third-party javascripts may include pop-up commands for adds so that when people visit your blog they launch a pop-up (indeed, this is the main purpose of such scripts!). If you see annoying pop-ups when you visit your blog, and if you use third-party javascript code for generating stats, you might want to have a look at the code to see what may really be lurking in there...

oh, it was my browser. somehow FireFox compiled with SSL, even though theres no SSL USE flag in Gentoo. upgrading to 3.;0 from source and bypassing portage fixed thep roblem..

still have to disable CSS colors though, since the dotclear editor/admin sets a background color but no foreground - so everything is white on white!

is it just me or is the blog and the entire gandi site impossible to login for the past couple of days? seems the upgrade screwed something up - hopefully the DOTClear upgrade fixes the 'old cache' issue with the blog..

Hi Name,

We are working on just such a sheet! In the meantime, you can use the custom stylesheet (it is a blank stylesheet) to create your own theme - you will find this in the list of thems. What you can do to get started, rather than begin from scratch, is to import the CSS stylesheet of a pre-existing theme into your blank custom stylesheet.

By literally cutting and pasting the CSS stylesheet into your blank sheet, you will be able to toy with the attributes, and see what they are.

One way to see the stylesheet for a theme is to load up a theme that you like, then view the page source. Then, in the code, you will see a line like:

@import url(/themes/gandibar/style.css);

just copy and past the theme's URL to the URL of your blog in the following way:

http://www.gandibar.net/themes/gandibar/style.css

and you will then see the stylesheet for the theme you are looking at in your web browser. By copying and pasting this into your blog's custom theme blank stylesheet, you can import the theme - but you can now edit all of its attributes as you like! Additionally, you can see all of the classes and attributes that you will need to be creative with your blog's look.

Can we get a list of the attributes specific to Dotclear's setup? I am been trying to find some documentation on creating my own stylesheet, but have been unable to find a good one in english.

Everthing I find is about installing full thems which I don't think we can install custome thems in Gandi's setup. Maybe in some future version we could store one to be used in our media folder.

Thanks for a very nice blog. Some issues: the default Blue Silence is indeed our favorite, but it does not show correctly in 800x600 browsers: many of the themes don't! It is just a few px too wide, when you look at the CSS, you can see 820px for example. Why? Things should be made to work fine on 800x600 without horizontal scroll bar, as there is no reason not to. Yes, the 'roll your own' Custom Theme is there, but pasting in the modified CSS from Blue Silence isn't enough, as the background images are then no longer there. Is there any easy way to fix this? Thanks for any advice and again for your nice service.

When using this, if you click to create an account, it just goes after to the login page for the new gandi handle, but no email arrives to tell what it is. Perhaps someone can test this out, as tried from different computers and each time it did not work.

The traffic statistics are quite surprising - very different from what SiteMeter and StatCounter tell me. I don't know which to believe, but thanks for implementing this.

Hi Mike For the pings, they will only ping the published posts at the time of the pinging, though we will consider if there may be other pinging possibilities that could be added. As for stats, we are pleased to say that they are now operational!

For the statistics, I use Gogle Analytics and Prformancig. for fixed Ips there is option to exclude thm, and for movible IPs, I use disable Javascript on Firefox and the author results are not counted as a visitor.

If you schedule a post for some future time, are the pings sent at the time you save the post, or when it is published? It seems the boxes become unchecked after saving, which casts doubt on what is actually happening.

PS: Any date yet for statistics? Please include a feature allowing you to exclude certain ip addresses from being counted - so that the author is not counted as a visitor.

NIce! I'm not a big fan of systems administration work myself (no offence) so I'm always trying to keep my stuff on "other people's servers". I'll probably be moving my blog here. Plans for imap-enabled 1G mail space sounds great too, better than Google.

I could use 2k of hosting space too, for a simple home page to direct people to all my places of prescense around the Web.
