As a response to repeated requests on the blog or by mail, we are making available a banner that has been made by one of our customers.

This morning, glancing at the upper right hand corner of our our main page, I was quickly reminded that we will soon pass the mark of half-a-million actively managed domain names!

We have seen a net increase of 95,000 domains over the year...all without 16 pages of glossy adds. This was made possible simply by the fact that love what we do and we do it well, while treating you as we would like to be treated: please allow us to continue this splendid adventure (what...did nobody go on vacation?)!

Last week, we added 1,000 additional accounts to GandiBlog. Welcome to all the new arrivals! We hope that you feel well at ease (a few accounts should still be available).

We updated the GandiBlog platform yesterday, adding a range of new features and correcting a few remaining problems. This includes:

• The ability to import OPML^[1] or XBEL into your blogroll (a OPML file may often be generated by an aggregator)
• RSS and Atom feeds for tags (entries and comments)
• The number of attached files is now displayed on your blog. In the administration interface, a paperclip icon shows you if an entry contains attached files.
• If you add an image containing an XMP^[2] header, information such as the date of the shoot, the image title, etc. will automatically be imported. A little bit later, we will be adding EXIF and IPTC compatibility, eventually followed by a great gallery
• Some improvements to the WYSIWYG editor
• From the Dashord, you will see a new link: "Informations GandiBlog". This will take you to a page that contains information pertaining to your blog (for the moment is it only in French). Right now, this only contains info on the XML/RPC interface settings; Many of you have requested this and we must admit that without this information, there would be no way to figure out how to do it

Also, and without a doubt the most widely anticipated: a customizable theme. On the 'Theme Settings' page, select the "Custom Theme" and click the 'save' button. After the page has refreshed, you will see a 'Theme Configuration' tab appear where you can enter all the CSS code you want, to customize the appearance of your blog. If you then change the theme and return to a customized theme, your stylesheet will be saved.

Last, but not least, the problem with trackbacks has been fixed.

Here are the changes made to Gandi from 17/07 to 23/07:

• Possibility of changing one's DNS configuration in the event that there is an error in the creation of the domain
• Script that automatically replies to AFNIC tickets when DNS are changed
• Addition of more error descriptions for domains being transferred
• Possibility of changing one's domain if it has already been taken
• Opening of an additional 1,500 beta GandiBlogs
• Over 1,000 e-mails replied to by the Customer Care Department
  

Here are the changes made to Gandi from 03/07 to 09/07:

• Installation of a new protocol for .name
• Debugged the Reseller interface
• Improved some Customer Care tools
• Added a display of invoices per year (per month for resellers)
• Improvement of incoming transfers for .fr domains
• Over 1,000 Customer Care e-mails were replied to
  

Here are the changes made to Gandi between 19/06 and 25/06:

• Optimization and correction of Contact forms
• Modification of the DNS Expert zone field interface
• Correction of contact listing per domain (Control Panel)
• Correction of data export from our Whois database
• Correction of our domain renewal alarm system
• Nearly 3,000 e-mails replied to by our Customer Care Department
  

AFNIC, the registry in charge of the .fr top level domain (TLD), has just published a few official statistics concerning the opening of the .fr TLD for registration by French residents.

Here are the changes made to Gandi between 12/06 and 18/06:

• Preparation of the system for the release of the .fr TLD to French residents
• Modification of invoices so they use less ink when printed, Gandi is environmentally-friendly
• Correction of the transfer process for .fr and .be TLDs
• Display of refunds in your invoices section
• Fixed the "Restart the transfer" button for failed transfers in the "Orders in Progress" page
• Modification of the "Control Panel" for the activation of blogs
• Preparation of a new type of account: Reseller
• Plus, over 2,800 e-mails replied to by Customer Care
  

June 20th 2006, AFNIC (the registry in charge of the .FR TLD will open registration of .FR domain names to individuals 18 and over who reside in France.

No proof of identity will be required, you must simply provide your date of birth, the city in which you live, and the French département in which you were born (indicate 99 if you were born in another country).

We wish to tell you all how much your letters mean to us. There are only 23 of us here, and we have never seen so many customers openly express their joy as are doing so now. Of course, we also receive less pleasant messages, but that is normal: it is easier to express dissatisfaction (justified or not, whatever our position may be, often exaggerating our case for fear that the point will not be made) than satisfaction.
