.fr: launch assessment

AFNIC, the registry in charge of the .fr top level domain (TLD), has just published a few official statistics concerning the opening of the .fr TLD for registration by French residents.
The press release is given below. Here are just a few statistics of Gandi:
- Number of domains registered by Gandi: 8,822 (23.66% of the total number registered by the 233 different registrars),
- Number of requests accepted from Gandi: 8,867. This is a great example of our capacity to complete our customer requests (once the form has been accepted by AFNIC): 99.49%!!!
- Total number of requests sent by Gandi (including doubles generated our customers themselves): 13,383. This comes to 21.76% of the total, and an application acceptance rate by AFNIC of 66.25%.
We are happy to have been able to respond to this TLD launch, which occurred right in the middle of our company's expansion phase, even if our Customer Care Department does not have any thanks for the .fr TLD...but that is an ongoing issue

It is to be noted that after the .eu release, Gandi - and this demonstrates that our core business remains our highest priority - has been without a doubt one of the most efficient registrars in this process, whether in qualitative or quantitative terms. And all this, without 16 pages of adds, pre-reservations, or promises signed by bailiffs
Thanks to whom? To you of course!
PS: However, we are still somewhat disappointed by the overall statistics to tell you the truth. This is not how the .fr TLD will help the French population gain an understanding of the importance of domain names and related services...well, we'll just roll up our sleeves and keep going!
