The launching of this new extension will occur in three phrases:

  1. The protection phase, called Sunrise, reserved to holders of national trademarks. This will begin on December 3rd and will run until Feburary 2nd 2009. Registration will be made on a first-come, first-served, basis. You will not need to send any document if you or your customer are the owner of the domain name that you register. Nonetheless, in case of doubt, the validating agent (Deloitte) may request these documents. Validated domains will be activated on February 3rd.
  2. The "Landrush" period, from February 2nd to March 23rd, open to all but at a much higher price and for a 3-year period (about 90 euros excl. tax per year).
  3. The "GoLive" period, beginning on March 24th 2009, at a rate of 14 euros per year (excl. tax) for 1 to 10 years.


In any event, please read our contract.

Note, however, that the .TEL extension is unlike other extensions! You will be unable to have a website with an address like example.tel. The purpose of the extension is to store and manage your personal contact information in a format that can be easily managed via DNS records.

Pre-reservation is now open for the Sunrise period that will begin on December 3rd! During the ordering of the domain name, you must provide the following information:

  • your trademark name, which must be identical to the domain you requested (see the .tel contract for all the details),
  • the country where your trademark is registered,
  • the registration date,
  • your registration number,
  • your position with regards to the trademark (owner, licencee, or having a right of use),
