TL;DR: It's March, and spring has officially sprung, as they say. We're warming up for 2015 with (mostly) good news: we have an update on our Gandi Server pricing to share; we have a bunch more new gTLDs this month, bringing the running total to approximately eleventy billion; we have promos on .SCIENCE, .XYZ, .ME, .SOCIAL, .CLUB, .DANCE, .MX and a whole bunch more. And we'll see you in Austin for South by Southwest! In other news, registries are raising prices on .INFO, .ORG and .WS.

For details, read on.

0. Has it been 15 years already?

15 years ago, we were disrupting the market with affordable .com domains. With a portfolio of three TLDs, we set out to change the DNS industry for the better, Gandi style. Now, 15 years later, we have over 100 employees with offices on 3 continents working together to manage millions of domains and websites and make the internet a better place.

To celebrate, we're planning a surprise. We can't tell you what it is, but as recipients of our newsletter we love you the best, and so the least we can do is give you a heads-up: it's happening this month, and you don't want to miss it.

Keep your eyes peeled: we're @gandibar on Twitter.

1. A (positive) change in pricing for Gandi Servers

We've simplified the pricing structure for Gandi Servers (IaaS), resulting in lower prices across the board in most cases. As IPv4 becomes more of an endangered species, the price per interface is going up slightly, but we're lowering the price on just about all the other resources. This decrease in rates means hosting resources are now cheaper than ever before, even considering the biggest volume discounts.

We're also raising the cap on free outbound bandwidth to 2 TB/month. (Inbound bandwidth is free and unlimited, as always.)

For details, see our post:

2. Gandi at SXSW

SxSW kicks off this week in Austin, TX. We won't have a booth, but we are going, and we'll do our best to stand out with matching blue backpacks and pairs of those weird shoes with toes on them.

If you manage to track us down, we *might* just have something special for you, and who knows, maybe we'll even let you in on what we're planning for later this month ;)

3. Rights delegation in beta

Rights delegation is a project that has been in the works at Gandi for a long time--as you can imagine, projects of this nature can be especially prickly. We're now fairly confident we've got it working correctly, and so the "rough" version is now available to resellers, who can now grant permissions (or request them) from a third party. We'll be adding more granular permissions and rolling this feature out to the rest of our customers soon.

5. Price increases on .INFO, .ORG and .WS

The original gTLD registries are continuing their tradition of raising prices every couple of years. This year, the increase will affect .INFO and .ORG domains, which will cost 14,00€ starting May 1 and August 1, respectively.

The registry managing .WS, the official ccTLD of Samoa (and, unofficially, WebSite), is rearranging its prices so that the first year is considerably cheaper (9€ instead of 25€), whereas renewals will be increased to 27€, starting May 1.
